At 205 metres, Roche Building 2 has surpassed Building 1’s 178 metres to become the tallest building in Switzerland. With its new office building, F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG has created space for around 3,500 employees at its headquarters in Basel. For Building 2, the Herzog & de Meuron architectural practice opted for an urbanistic design that is in keeping with the company’s historical style, while also allowing outward expansion. The high-rise building not only creates the ideal conditions for modern forms of collaboration aimed at promoting creativity and innovation, but also meets the most stringent sustainability standards.

The rooms were partitioned using Strähle’s flexible glass wall systems, which offered the high degree of quality, versatility and functionality required for the work environment. In total, more than 16,000 m² of high-quality glass walls and 630 doors were manufactured and installed. The double-layer partition wall system 2300, which features flush-bonded glass on white profiles, imbues each floor with an elegant ambience. Warm wooden hues and colour accents in the communication zones define the design scheme of the office spaces. Curtains and blinds provide privacy and discretion when needed, while also giving a cosy feel.
